2 Patriots Players and CPL Official Caught in Armed Robbery Drama in Barbados

A late-night food stop turned frightening for two St Kitts & Nevis Patriots cricketers and a CPL official after they were robbed at gunpoint outside a Fontabelle eatery in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The incident unfolded around 2:50 a.m. when the group, fresh from a private event, pulled up to grab food on their way back to their hotel. According to police reports, an armed man confronted them, snatching a piece of jewellery during the hold-up. But in the heat of a tussle, the gun slipped from the attacker’s grasp and was later recovered by the Barbados Police Service.

Initial reports suggested that one player had been directly robbed, but an official police statement clarified that while a chain was taken during the scuffle, “no West Indies cricketer was robbed during this incident”. The investigation is still ongoing.

A Patriots franchise representative confirmed that the players are safe, settled and cooperating with authorities. The CPL has also issued a short statement, stressing that the matter is now firmly with the police:

“This is now a police matter and we will not comment further while the investigation continues. The focus for CPL going forward will be the wellbeing of those involved.”

The Barbados Police Service is appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward by contacting the Criminal Investigations Department at 430-7189 or 430-7190, the Police Emergency line at 211 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477.
