Jamaica to Host 20th Caribbean Week of Agriculture in 2026

Jamaica set to host the 20th Caribbean Week of Agriculture (CWA) in 2026, taking over from St. Kitts and Nevis which just wrapped up hosting the 19th edition. Jamaica will welcome farming experts, policy makers and private players as the region’s top agriculture event returns.

At the close of CWA 2025, Barbados’ Agriculture Minister Indar Weir announced Jamaica’s new role, saying the island will host the next edition. The past week in SKN has seen delegates push the theme of south-south cooperation, climate-smart farming, and establishing value chains that span the Atlantic.

Agriculture Minister Samal Duggins used his opening address in SKN to highlight how regional solidarity matters: “together we can exchange knowledge on climate-smart farming, mobilize investment in agro-processing, build new value chains, and forge a true bridge between Africa and the Caribbean,” he said.

CWA is the Caribbean’s premier agricultural forum, rotating among CARICOM states. It hosts exhibitions, ministerial meetings, seminars, and farmer engagement sessions. Since its first edition in 1999 (held in Trinidad & Tobago), it’s grown into one of the region’s most important platforms for advancing rural development, food security, and policy dialogue.

Jamaica’s turn to host prepares the region for fresh energy — a chance to bring in new ideas, spotlight resilience and innovation, and deepen the cooperation already gaining momentum across Caribbean islands.
