SKN light up World Expo stage in Japan

St Kitts and Nevis showed the world what pride and culture look like when the islands took over the World Expo 2025 in Osaka for National Day on 20 August. The delegation, made up of dancers, singers and musicians, brought serious Caribbean energy to Japan, proving that even a small nation can make a big impression.

Led by Dr Denzil Douglas, the team touched down earlier in the week to prepare. Visitors to the Expo got to experience the St Kitts and Nevis pavilion, a space dedicated to the country’s history and traditions, and a chance to see our culture up close.

The Expo’s theme, Designing Future Society for Our Lives, was centre stage — but on National Day it was SKN’s colours, music and creativity that had the spotlight.

Officials said the showcase wasn’t just a performance but a statement: St Kitts and Nevis has talent, culture and history strong enough to stand on any world stage. For the performers, it was also about pride. “We wanted people to feel the spirit of home, no matter how far away they are,” one artist shared.
