Tropical wave set to affect SKN by Friday

The St Kitts Meteorological Services and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) are tracking a tropical wave in the Atlantic Ocean that is expected to reach the area by Friday, bringing unsettled weather conditions across St Kitts and Nevis.

The system is currently located east of the islands and has a low to medium chance of further development over the next day or two. Forecasters say residents can expect mostly cloudy skies, scattered showers, and a moderate chance of thunderstorms on Friday. Some lingering moisture could also bring additional showers on Saturday.

Officials are urging the public to remain alert as the Atlantic hurricane season reaches its peak. NEMA is advising all households to review disaster plans, follow local weather updates, and stay prepared in case conditions worsen.

“This is a reminder that preparedness saves lives,” NEMA said in its advisory. “We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and take practical steps to stay safe.”
