WATCH: Monday Night Address Explained

Brantley says Nevis is standing at the door of a once-in-a-generation opportunity. In his address last night, he confirmed that investors are exploring the creation of a Special Sustainability Zone (SSZ) on the island — a model designed to deliver prosperity while protecting the environment.

The potential impact is huge: 💰 billions in investment, 👷 thousands of long-term jobs for locals, and 🏥🚸 new revenues to strengthen hospitals, schools and roads. Zones must prioritise 🌊♻️ renewable energy, water security and environmental restoration, ensuring growth happens in harmony with nature.

Brantley was firm that Nevisians remain in control. 🛑 Land sales are voluntary, public property will always stay public, and no SSZ can be created without NIA approval.

He also pushed back at opposition criticism, describing it as “mistruths” and highlighting that some critics themselves have sold land in the proposed area. For him, the focus now must be on grasping this chance to make Nevis a Caribbean leader in sustainable development.
