Nevis shoots for Tier-1 iGaming status

Nevis just made a big play in the online gambling world, passing a new law and getting ready to hand out gaming licences. From the jump, the island is calling itself “Tier 1”—putting itself in the same conversation as Malta, Curacao and the Isle of Man.

The selling point? Speed and cost. Operators can get approved in months, not years, and one licence covers casinos, sports betting, poker and software. Annual fee? Around €28,000—seriously low compared to other markets.

Nevis already has credibility in finance with strong privacy laws, political stability and no tax on foreign income. Now it’s betting that reputation can translate into gaming.

There are risks. Offshore still carries stigma, some banks may hesitate, and Nevis has to prove it can maintain Tier-1 standards. But the timing is sharp. With Curacao losing favour, operators are looking for alternatives—and Nevis just stepped up.

If it delivers, the island could move from quiet offshore centre to serious player in global iGaming.
