PM Drew Bigs Up Project LEAD Interns With Special Luncheon

The first-ever round of Project LEAD has wrapped up, and Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew marked the occasion in style — by hosting the seven interns for a celebratory luncheon.

The initiative, which stands for Leadership, Engagement, Aspiration, Development, placed young Kittitians and Nevisians inside key ministries and offices tied to the Prime Minister for six weeks. The idea: give the next generation a front-row seat to how government really works, beyond the speeches and soundbites.

At the lunch, Dr Drew praised the interns for their curiosity, discipline, and drive. “Our youth are not just leaders of tomorrow, they are leaders of today,” he told them, making it clear that the programme isn’t just about shadowing officials — it’s about empowering young people to see themselves as part of shaping the Federation’s future.

Permanent Secretary Naeema Hazelle joined the gathering, underscoring the Office of the Prime Minister’s commitment to mentoring and building up young talent.

By all accounts, Project LEAD’s debut was a success, with participants gaining valuable exposure and the government highlighting the untapped potential sitting in classrooms and communities across the islands.

If this is just the first step, the message is clear: the Federation is investing in its youth — and banking on their leadership to take St Kitts and Nevis even further. 🌟
