StayWokeSKN allege City WiFi CEO trying to jail ex-banker over Facebook post

Trouble bubbling in the Federation again and this one messy ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ According to a post made by StayWokeSKN, the CEO of City WiFi, Zacharius Newman, has filed for an injunction claiming that their Facebook account is secretly being run by a woman known for her long-standing service in administration and accounting at the Development Bank.

StayWokeSKN say they were contacted and asked to remove their posts about City WiFi, but refused. They claim the request came after Newman falsely linked their page to the woman and used that claim to push for her imprisonment. The woman allegedly told the group she was unaware of any injunction, since it was issued at an ex-parte hearing she was not invited to. Newman is now seeking 14 days of jail time for her, accusing her of breaching a court order she did not know existed ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

The group go on to allege that Newman has targeted anyone who criticised City WiFi or him online, treating them all as aliases of the same woman, as if, in their words, "sheโ€™s the only Christian in St. Kitts" ๐Ÿ™„ They say he falsely testified that she made the StayWokeSKN page to maliciously damage his business and that heโ€™s now cyberstalking her, pulling screenshots and inventing claims to damage her credibility.

They also claim he accused her of creating flyers calling him the โ€œWiFi Kingpin of Liesโ€ and of posting defamatory comments through her personal brand and family business pages. According to StayWokeSKN, the CEO provided no proof in court and recycled false claims to paint her as the villain ๐Ÿ“„

The woman is said to have removed all her posts after receiving the judgeโ€™s order on 23 June and had only turned to Facebook in the first place to speak publicly about unfair treatment by government offices and City WiFi. She also responded to an affidavit served to her earlier in June, but deleted everything for legal compliance.

In his claim, Newman is also reportedly seeking EC$200,000 in damages, saying her public posts drove away 19 potential clients. The woman denies this, saying those clients were already part of a sales workbook and had received formal outreach before she left the company ๐Ÿ’ผ

StayWokeSKN say this entire situation is a misuse of the courts, calling it โ€œsadistic behaviourโ€ and a sign of a CEO not fit for leadership. They are calling on the Government to offer business counselling and for the courts to fairly assess what they describe as deceptive legal tactics โš–๏ธ

They ended their post by saying they cannot and will not take down their reporting, stressing that their publications are based on facts, not malice. Justice, they say, must be served ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ“ข
